Mid Major College Football Week 8: Rocks, Paper, Scissors

Rocks:

Idaho Defense- Giving up 70 points is never a good sign for a defense that came into Week 8 with only 1 loss. The Vandals defense gave up 662 total yards including 484 yards on the ground. Idaho also allowed Nevada to convert on all three of their fourth downs and gave up 27 first downs.

Paper:

Mike Price, UTEP-Big win for the Miners on Wednesday night game in prime time. They were able to pick up the big conference win in addition to gaining some national exposure.  They had a well balanced attack with 175 yards rushing and 271 yards in the air. UTEP also controlled the clock and finished with two late scoring drives in the final seven minutes to give them the win.

Scissors:

Andy Dalton, QB, TCU- In one of the biggest games of the season for the Horned Frogs, Dalton came up huge to keep their BCS hopes alive. He completed 13-24 pass attempts for 241 yards and three scores. Dalton managed the game very well and did not turn the ball over. This win at BYU is an important confidence booster for both TCU and Dalton.

No love

for MiQuale Lewis and Cory Sykes and their record setting combined 504 rushing yards?

Tough Week

It was a tough called between, Dalton, Lewis, Sykes and even Colin Kaepernick. I just thought Dalton was more deserving because the level of competition he faced was higher, it was a prime time game and his team is still undefeated.

kapernick will put up unreal numbers this week. they have a hawaii team that is going .......

to play their 4th string qb. after putting up 63 vs unlv and 70 vs idaho i see no reason why they won’t put up 77 points on hawaii. 11 touchdowns. you heard it here first.

the wolf pack offense is rolling right now

but not quite 11 TDs on saturday, good game though.

look out Boise?

I love that not even he knew that he scored and he continued to try to put it in - Evilducks

That's fair enough...

although that it’s sad that Ball State still almost lost the game even after such a performance.

tcu will go undefeated and represent the mountainwest conference

i hope they got a shot at texas. i think they win game outright and it would be a bonanza for recruitments. that’s if texas loses to okie state the week. peace.

central michigan has a big game vs boston college this week.

the chippewas will be very motivated. if dan lefevour plays like he did last week 130 yards rushing and good numbers passing i think they can upset b.c. and get into the top 25. they would deserve it with an 8-1 record and two wins vs aq bcs teams. michigan state and b.c.

MiQuale Lewis...

I had such high hopes for him this year, but defenses are putting 8 or 9 in the box vs him due to Ball St have virually no passing game

Possible 5th Year

He’s petitioned for a fifth year due to his injury problems early in his career, it’d be nice if he could get a medical redshirt & come back to a improved offensive line and quarterback.
