Detroit Coaching Staff Falling Apart As Season Approaches
Two members of the Detroit coaching staff have left the program in the past week. Assistant coach Derek Thomas resigned on Halloween, and assistant Carlos Briggs has apparently also resigned based on his attendance with the team.

Former Detroit assistant coach Carlos Briggs alleges that he was wrongfully fired after reporting an affair he thought was taking place between the former athletic director and another Titan coach. Now he is looking for a big pay day, saying this has cost him other jobs.
Did Carlos Briggs get fired for ratting out the Detroit AD and his fellow assistant coach Derek Thomas? That is what he told the media in a statement released Wednesday.
But you have to wonder what is happening at the school that so many of the coaches have left within the last week. And it isn't just that they are leaving, but which coaches are the ones walking away -- if Briggs is actually gone.
Both Thomas and Briggs worked with the Titan guards, and that includes a very prominent player on the team who happens to be the head coach's son. Again, that could just be a coincidence, but it is hard to keep that out of mind when evaluating these staffing changes.
Details are sparse but Detroit athletic director Keri Gaither and men's assistant basketball coach Derek Thomas both resigned Wednesday within two hours of each other. Neither one released a statement, nor did the school give any reason for the departures
