The Mack Sports Complex will be getting a taste of Niagara's basketball team when new head coach Joe Mihalich brings his entire coaching staff to the school this upcoming season.
Mihalich announced his staff Tuesday, and he will be retaining assistant coaches Mike Farrelly, Kyle Neptune, and Shane Nichols, who helped guide the Purple Eagles to a conference-best 13-5 record in the MAAC last season, making it to the first round of the NIT in their final throes in upstate New York.
Colin Curtin will also be joining Mihalich at Hofstra as the Director of Basketball Operations, the same position he held for Niagara, essentially completing the holistic overhaul of the Pride basketball program.
Many would say it was a needed overhaul after Hofstra's dismal 7-25 record last season and head coach Mo Cassara was fired.
Since the end of the season, the Pride have lost five players to transfers, including three starters from last season's squad in Taran Buie, Shaquille Stokes, and Jimmy Hall.
Mihalich will have quite the task on his hands in trying to grow the program, having a familiar staff around him should help make the challenge at least a little bit easier.
