Marist Coaching Search

Now that Jeff Bower is the new GM of the Detroit Pistons, Marist has been left sitting in the dust. Like Parks Smith said in his article, I feel bad for the Marist fans. Steve Van Gundy and Detroit have reasons to love this move, but Marist is now in a deep hole.

Athletic director Tim Murray has been hunting for a new basketball coach for the Red Foxes, but his list of candidates has been shrinking more and more each day.

At one point Murray was looking at former Boston College head coach, Steve Donahue, but Donahue turned down the offer. Several of Bower's former assistants at Marist (Paul Lee, Brian Adams, and Eugene Burroughs) have all expressed interest in the opening.

The five scholarship players that Bower helped recruit have expressed their desire to uphold their promise to play with the Marist Red Foxes this upcoming season, but other than that, this is a Marist team that has a long road ahead of them.
