Coaching Carousel: Montana State to Hire Oregon Assistant Brian Fish

USA TODAY Sports

Montana State has found their man and it's Oregon assistant Brian Fish who will be in his first head coaching position ever with the Bobcats.

Montana State will hire Oregon assistant Brian Fish to take over for Brad Huse as the Bobcats head coach. Fish, a Marshall graduate, has spent nearly 15 years under Dana Altman at Marshall, Kansas State, Creighton, and Oregon. Fish has also spent time as an assistant coach at San Diego and Texas Christian.

Montana State is coming off a 14-17 season, the eighth year under Huse in Bozeman. The Bobcats have not been to the NCAA Tournament since 1996 and have not had a winning season since 2009-10 when they went 15-14. Montana State was 9-11 in the Big Sky this past year and their season ended in a 84-59 loss at the hands of Sacramento State.

Fish is 48 years old and has 21 years of coaching experience. His new job as the Bobcats' head coach will be his first time being a head coach at the collegiate level.
