It has been quite the unlucky season for Barclay Radebaugh and his Charleston Southern Buccaneers. The Bucs were one of the preseason favorites for the Big South Conference this year and after a brutal non-conference schedule, where they went 6-7, disappointment continued as finished the year 6-10 in the conference and grabbed the fifth seed in the South Division.
More bad news today as preseason Big South First Teamer and star guard Saah Nimley has been lost for the season and will not participate in the Big South Tournament. Nimley has had nagging knee injuries since the Bucs' January 25 game against Longwood. Nimley was used sparingly since that game and will now have surgery within the next couple of weeks according to Radebaugh.
Nimley finished this season averaging a team best 13.3 points per game and was fourth in the Big South in assists with five helpers per outing. Both his scoring and rebounding productions was down this year.
The Bucs take on the fourth seeded Campbell Camels from the North Division on Wednesday. Charleston Southern will still have a solid shot at winning as Campbell has dropped eight of their last nine games coming into the tournament.
