Green Bay has clinched a share of the regular season championship for the first time since 1996 with a 67-53 victory over Valparaiso. The Phoenix won in Green Bay and were led by 17 points from Keifer Sykes and a 12 point, 10 rebound double-double from Jordan Fouse; Alec Brown scored 14 points and blocked eight shots for the senior night victors. The Phoenix will now host the quarter and semifinal rounds of the Horizon League championship this year.
The Crusaders were held to 36% shooting from the field and Green Bay was able to stymie Valpo's leading scorer, LaVonte Dority to 9 points on 3-for-13 shooting. Freshmen Alec Peters and Jubril Adekoya were the leading scorers for Valpo with 11 points each.
In Youngstown, the Penguins beat the Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers 88-83 in overtime. Kendrick Perry led all scorers with a career best 35 points. He added nine rebounds, five assists and four steals. He was helped by 14 points from both Bobby Hain and Kamren Belin, with both players also shooting 50% from the field. The Penguins were red hot, shooting 53% from the field as a team.
Milwaukee was led by Austin Arians's 28 points and Kyle Kelm knocking in 13 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Junior guard Steve McWhorter added six points and nine assists as he started for the suspended Jordan Aaron. Aaron, the Panthers leading scorer this season, has missed the last two games after breaking a team rule.
