How Long Until We Add the Big East to Our Coverage?

+

In case you missed it, Notre Dame is headed to the ACC for all sports except football. In addition, they will play 5 ACC schools per year on the girdiron. The Big East keeps getting weaker, and considering most of what is left is the old CUSA, this is not a good sign for them staying a major conference. They may still have a few big names, but wow. You have to wonder if this changes anything related to currently planned realignment.

Old Dominion Unlikely To Leave Early

+

According to a tweet by Ed Miller of the Virginian-Pilot, Old Dominion's AD Wood Selig has said that an early jump to Conference USA is unlikely. Going to be a long season for a lot of Monarch athletes.

CAA Decision Could Have Georgia State Bolting Early

+

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the decision to not allow Georgia State to play in Colonial Championship events as a team could have the Panthers leaving for the Sun Belt early. The move would be for all sports except football, where the schedules have been completed. Other schedules have been finished but not released.

Old Dominion, Georgia State Shut Out of CAA Championship Events

+

The Colonial Athletic Association hinted that they had made a decision during the Presidents' meetings. They just wanted a few days to work out the details. Well, the decision is here. Old Dominion and Georgia State will not be allowed to participate in CAA championship events. That leaves the conference with just seven entries into next season's conference basketball tournament. More reaction to this later when other details are released.

Boston University Moving to Patriot League

+

Boston University has accepted an invitation to join the Patriot League starting with the 2013-14 school year. The Terriers, who were reportedly being courted by several conferences, including the Colonial Athletic Association, will be just the latest school to run from the America East conference. With this move, it looks more likely that the school targeted for football expansion in the north by the CAA is Stony Brook, another America East school. Invitations have been sent to several schools to join the CAA with announcements expected soon.
