Smoot told listeners of The Fan he heard RGII has suffered a torn ACL and PCL per sources "in the building". Now he's backtracking to say the source was "not in the building".
Bummer for him. Hope he comes back strong next season. (Obviously, I'm not a Cowboys fan.)
DE Adam Carriker is expected to undergo surgery after seriously injuring his knee in the Redskins' Week 2 loss to the Rams. Carriker went down on the second play of the game and never returned. He'll have an MRI on Monday, but the Redskins are not optimistic. "It doesn't look good," coach Mike Shanahan said. The 'Skins also lost OLB Brian Orakpo to another pectoral injury, leaving a gaping hole in their pass-rushing stable. It's good news for their Week 3 opponent, the Bengals. Source: Washington Post
Giants RCB Prince Amukamara has been diagnosed with a right high-ankle sprain. The word comes via the CBS telecast. It's a minor victory that Amukamara has avoided a break, but high-ankle sprains can often linger for more than a month. Amukamara is now extremely doubtful to be ready for Opening Night on September 5, meaning the G-Men will be forced to turn to Bruce Johnson or Michael Coe opposite Corey Webster as they wait for a timetable on Terrell Thomas (knee). Amukamara, who was limited to seven games by a foot injury as a rookie, went down untouched on a first-quarter tackle of Brandon Marshall. Source: New York Daily News
Marc Mariani broke the left tibia and fibula in his leg during the Titan's game on 08/23/2012.
Eagles coach Andy Reid revealed following Thursday night's preseason opener that Jeremy Maclin is dealing with a strained hamstring. Maclin suffered the injury in pre-game warmups and was a late scratch for Thursday's exhibition opener. The severity of the strain is unknown, but hamstrings are tricky and can cost players a significant amount of time if setbacks occur. Look for the Eagles to proceed cautiously with Maclin. They are counting on him to be their No. 1 receiver this season.
In addition, backup QB, Tyler Brosius has been forced into a transfer to community college due to academic issues. This is in addition to issues with two freshman defensive players and 2010 leading rusher, Mustafa Greene who is coming off a medical redshirt in 2011.
Yikes.
Well, let me just say this is not what we needed. He pulled himself, in and from the game... Probably will dash his All-Star hopes too...
He may not be ready for the first round of Euro 2012 for France, but there's no long-term damage. Carry on, everyone.
