Championship Week Thread: March 7, 2011

By sheer numbers it's a slow day for college basketball, just seven games dot the schedule. By magnitude, today is tremendous. Three more teams will punch their tickets to the NCAA Tournament with the CAA, WCC and MAAC all hosting conference tournament championships tonight. The remaining four games are semifinal tilts in the Sun Belt and SoCon, making today's docket ripe with quality hardwood action.

We've already previewed the Colonial final between Old Dominion and VCU, a game that undoubtedly has the potential to be a classic clash. St. Peter's and Iona's face-off in the MAAC final had added drama in that the two teams are actually staying in the same hotel, on the same floor. Talk about keeping your enemies close. And of course out west the WCC will be decided between Gonzaga and Saint Mary's, like it could happen any other way. So come on in, share your thoughts and enjoy the games!
