Murray State's Zay Jackson pleaded guilty Friday to an assault charge stemming from an incident in a Walmart parking lot over the summer. He will serve 30 days in jail as a condition of the plea bargain.

During the incident, Jackson allegedly backed his car into a pedestrian as he attempted to copy down Jackson's license plate number.

Jackson will also be required to attend anger management classes, write an apology to the victims and do community service.

There has been no word from the basketball team about Jackson's status when we returns to the university following his sentence. He will begin serving immediately although formal sentencing hasn't occurred, meaning he could possibly return to school on November 11.

According to his lawyer, the terms of the plea bargain were arranged so that Jackson could continue his education after serving his sentence.

It will be interesting to see how this news affects the team with the official start of practice today, and Murray State being the only mid-major featured on the ESPNU Midnight Madness calendar.
