Remember when we said that Akron was a nice puzzle that Keith Dambrot had put together, and how the whole ended up being better than the sum of its parts?
That is about to be put to the test after Quincy Diggs was suspended for the upcoming academic year after violating school's Code of Student Conduct (it is capitalized because it is important). The rising senior was named the 6th Man of the Year in the MAC last season while averaging 8.2 points off the bench for the Zips.
Diggs was among the candidates to move into the starting lineup this year to replace the graduated Nikola Cvetinovic. Given his range (36.4 percent from 3) this would have given the Zips a smaller, more speedy lineup this season.
Dambrot added this from the Akron Beacon Journal:
"I'm not concerned about the effect on the team, I'm concerned that [he] graduates," coach Keith Dambrot said.
