Opening Tip 2012: Mid-Major Madness Open Thread

For the first time in a long while, college basketball tips off on a single night, and Mid-Major Madness will be at a number of games across the country to bring it all to you. Join us as we watch games from North Carolina to California. And the biggest show of all will be right in the middle of Nebraska, putting Tony Mitchell and North Texas against Doug McDermott and Creighton.

Opening night is finally here. Like right now here.

All of the previews are in the books and we are ready to see which of the crazy predictions that we have been making actually come true. And now the real work begins.

Tonight the full slate of Mid-Major Madness writers will fan out across the country to get the first looks at some of the teams that we have already looked at in depth.

We will have live updates as we can from:

  • Lehigh-Baylor, 5 p.m. Eastern (Preview)
  • Mount St. Mary's-Pittsburgh, 6 p.m. Eastern (Preview)
  • Georgia State-Duke Drexel-Kent State, 7 p.m. Eastern (Preview)
  • Toledo-Loyola, 8 p.m. Eastern
  • North Texas-Creighton, 8:05 p.m. Eastern (Preview)
  • Indiana State-UCLA, 11 p.m. Eastern

After each game, we will provide our best analysis of what happened, and try to sort out who made the most of the time that they put in over the summer and fall. It isn't for all the marbles yet, but getting off on a bad foot doesn't set a good tone for the year.

Join us as we begin day one of the march to the madness.
