Long Beach State's Casper Ware Off to Italy, Could Charlie Westbrook Be Next?

Casper Ware will now be doing his interviews in Italian. Could South Dakota's Charlie Westbrook be learning the language too?

Long Beach State's Casper Ware has his first pro contract. The diminutive point guard, who seemed to win every major award in college, has signed on with Novipiu Casale, according to the team.

There was no doubt when we did our draft profiles that Ware had skills to compete on the highest levels, given his scoring prowess against some of the NBA's best. But his free throw shooting, size and the fact that he was only rated the third best player on his own team by HOOPWAR somewhat work against him.

Getting a shot overseas is a strong first step for him though.

He might be seeing some familiar faces in Italy too, based on the traffic that has been coming to Mid-Major Madness in the last 24 hours. Fans of Scaligera Basket Verona have been very interested in South Dakota grad Charlie Westbrook.

According to Westbrook's Twitter feed more information is coming Tuesday on his future. Could it be in Italian?

Signs seem to be indicating si.

Update: According to a tweet from IUPUI Athletics, Alex Young has also signed with an Italian team, Orlandina Basket.
