America East Announces Record Broadcast Package with ESPN

On Tuesday, the America East Conference announced its basketball television package with ESPN for the upcoming season will broadcast the most games in the league’s history with the network. The world wide leader’s family of networks will be the exclusive home for 21 regular-season conference battles in 2013-14 and will also broadcast both the men’s and women’s championship tournament for the second-straight season.

Within the package, America East basketball teams will combine to make 70 appearances on the ESPN platforms, the most in league history.

"Men’s and women’s basketball are our premier sports and we are excited to offer our fans more opportunities to watch America East games than ever before this season, highlighted by the addition of having our women’s championship game on ESPNU for the first time," said America East Commissioner Amy Huchthausen via a press release. "This package gives basketball fans around the country more exposure to America East basketball as well as a deeper understanding of the conference’s commitment to provide a complete collegiate experience for all of its student-athletes."

Every school will appear on ESPN3 at least twice during the regular season as part of the package and the men’s basketball championship game will be aired on ESPN2 from University of Albany’s SEFCU Arena.

Additionally, the package will highlight Stony Brook and Vermont’s contest on Friday, Jan. 24 and a wild card game featuring the league’s most intriguing matchup on the final day of the regular season. Possibilities for the broadcast include Albany at Stony Brook, UMBC at Hartford, New Hampshire at Maine and Vermont at Binghamton.
