George Washington's Patricio Garino and Joe McDonald Injured

Mike Lonergan may be without two of his starters for George Washington's season opener versus Radford.

We've been touting George Washington as one of the Atlantic 10's up and coming programs all offseason. Now one of their main players for that hype will miss the first month of the season. The Colonials will be without their point forward Patricio Garino due to a finger injury.

Garino, 6'5, started every game as a freshman a year ago. He finished the season averaging 8.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

Also, Colonials point guard Joe McDonald sat out Saturday's exhibition game against Bowie State with a hip injury. Mike Lonergan would not comment on McDonald's status for the season opener. While losing McDonald would be a blow, the Colonials do have depth at the point guard position with Indiana transfer Maurice Creek.

George Washington will open their season Friday November 8 against the Radford Highlanders of the Big South. GW was 13-17 and 7-9 in the A10 a year ago.
