1. Radford Highlanders (7-4)
LW: 3
I don't know if anyone deserves to be number one in this week's rankings, but I guess we'll give it to the Highlanders. R.J. Price had a huge afternoon going for 30 points against Sacred Heart in the Las Vegas Classic to stop a two game skid for Radford. They'll close out the tournament today against Florida Gulf Coast.
Last Week: L 75-62 at Santa Clara, L 81-62 at UNLV, W 94-78 vs Sacred Heart
This Week: 12/23 vs Florida Gulf Coast (6-6)
2. Winthrop Eagles (6-4)
LW: 1
It was a very disappointing week for Pat Kelsey's squad as they dropped a pair of games by six point each against North Carolina Central and Wofford. They'll now have to wait a week to rebound when they head to Hampton on Sunday.
Last Week: L 72-66 at NC Central, L 62-56 vs Wofford
This Week: 12/29 at Hampton (5-7)
3. Charleston Southern Buccaneers (4-6)
LW: 2
We're still not pulling the plug on the Bucs, but Barclay Radebaugh's squad has been disappointing. The Bucs lost to Western Carolina early in the week but fought back by beating Central Arkansas on the road. CSU will finish out of conference play with three games, two against non-D1 opponents.
Last Week: L 92-84 at Western Carolina, W 97-90 at Central Arkansas
This Week: 12/28 vs St. Andrews (Non D1)
4. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (6-6)
LW: 6
The Chants have a week off after an up and down week where they lost one and won one on the road. Coastal will close non-conference play with the back end of home and home series in Conway.
Last Week: L 83-78 at South Carolina State, W 65-62 at Central Connecticut State
This Week: OFF
5. Gardner-Webb Bulldogs (7-7)
LW: 4
Gardner-Webb competed at Duke and Georgia this week and after dropping a pair of games against the power conference teams they unloaded on a non-Division I team. The Bulldogs will now take the week off for the Holidays.
Last Week: L 85-66 at #8 Duke, L 58-49 at Georgia, W 90-54 vs Hiwasee
This Week: OFF
6. VMI Keydets
LW: 5
VMI got in their normal run and gun affair and gave East Carolina all they can handle. With Stan Okoye gone the Keydets have established a trio of scorers lead by freshman Q.J. Peterson who is leading the Big South in scoring with 20.8 points per game. Rodney Glasgow and D.J. Covington are both averaging over 15 points per game as well.
Last Week: L 103-94 at ECU
This Week: OFF
7. UNC Asheville Bulldogs
LW: 8
The Bulldogs have won three straight games in their comforts of home. Competition will heat up a little this week with in-state rival UNC Wilmington coming to town. How much has this team grown since their eight game road trip earlier this year?
Last Week: W 83-58 vs Virginia Intermont
This Week: 12/28 vs UNCW (6-7)
8. Liberty Flames (5-7)
LW: 9
It was another inconsistent week for the Flames. Dale Layer's team took down Howard at home, but then feel to Furman on the road. Antwan Burrus has lead the Flames in five of the past six games, but yet the excuse earlier this season was that the team was learning how to play with Burrus. The real measure for Liberty will come next week with games against Delaware and Princeton.
Last Week: W 77-59 vs Howard, L 86-82 at Furman
This Week: 12/28 vs Southeastern (Non D1)
9. High Point Panthers (3-7)
LW: 8
High Point has dropped five straight games since losing Allan Chaney for the year. It won't get any easier this week with a road trip to Fayetteville on tap to play the Razorbacks. It's not looking good for the North Division preseason favorites.
Last Week: L 85-74 at Morgan State, L 75-54 at #2 Syracuse
This Week: 12/28 at Arkansas (9-2)
10. Longwood Lancers (5-8)
LW: 10
Coach Gee said Longwood played their worst game of the year and was disappointed for the team's energy for the first time in a 20 point loss at Dartmouth. It'll be a tough end to conference play for Longwood with road games at Ohio and Louisiana Tech.
Last Week: W 80-61 vs Virginia Intermont, L 84-64 at Dartmouth
This Week: OFF
11. Presbyterian Blue Hose (4-9)
LW: 12
The Blue Hose have gone from a punchline to quite the scrappy squad. PC lost a close one to Tennessee-Martin and then beat Appalachian State later in the week. They now get a week off, like plenty of other teams.
Last Week: L 73-70 vs UT-Martin, W 74-69 vs Appalachian State
This Week: OFF
12. Campbell Camels (5-7)
LW: 11
Campbell fell at Robert Morris then beat up on a culinary school at home. The Camels get the week off before closing out of conference play versus some pretty equal competition.
Last Week: L 72-61 at Robert Morris, W 95-64 vs Johnson & Wales
This Week: OFF
