AP Top 25 Poll Week 9: Movement Slow Over Holiday

With only a couple of high profile games during the holiday week, movement was pretty stunted in the AP Top 25 poll. But Wichita State benefited from a couple of Top 10 losses.

Syracuse gained three first place votes in the AP Top 25 poll this week, thanks to a win over Villanova. The loss dropped the Wildcats out of the Top 10.

Louisville also took a hit with its loss to Kentucky in their rivalry game.

The result was that Wichita State climbed to No. 8 in the rankings, after avoiding an upset at the hands of Davidson. The Shockers enter the Missouri Valley season undefeated and without a clear challenger for the top spot in the conference.

Massachusetts and Gonzaga remained in place at Nos. 23 and 24 with single wins.

The toughest news might be for Toledo which barely gained ground on the No. 25 spot. The Rockets remain the only undefeated team outside of the AP Top 25.

George Washington and Harvard also received votes in the poll this week.
