Buffalo made a bit of a surprise firing a couple of weeks ago by letting go Reggie Witherspoon who had been with the Bulls since 1999. The MAC school made a splash today by hiring former Duke star and Rhode Island assistant Bobby Hurley.
Hurley has been an assistant for his brother, Dan, since 2010 at Wagner. He followed his brother to Rhode Island when he took the job a year ago.
Hurley's dad is legendary high school coach Bob Hurley Sr, who coaches at Saint Anthony's in Jersey City, New Jersey.
At Duke, Hurley was a two time national champion and the Most Outstanding Player in the 1992 Final Four. After Duke, he played for five seasons in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings and the Vancouver Grizzlies.
The former "Blue Chips" star (I still think its weird he played for Indiana) takes over a team who was 14-20 this year and 7-9 in MAC play.
