The 25th annual College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships will be held next Thursday as a prelude to the NCAA Final Four beginning. Nine of the 24 participants have been named and two mid-major dunkers have been named to the list.
Doug Anderson threw down some monstrous dunks this season, three of them being named ESPN's #1 play of the week. As someone who has seen Doug dunk in person, it's something to behold. If you haven't just check out what he did to Cleveland State earlier this year.
Yeah, that'll be fun to see in a dunk contest.
James Ennis was named the Big West Conference Player of the Year, and follows in the shoes of another LBSU dunker, 2007 Slam Dunk Contest participant Louis Darby. Ennis's highlight reel dunks spurred a social media campaign with the hashtag #LetEnnisDunk. I'm hoping he wears their all gold The Beach uniforms, because those are just a thing of beauty.
Oh my, that'll be nice.
Also on the list so far is Minnesota's Rodney Williams Jr. Five more will be added through out the rest of the week.
The 3 Point and Dunk Championships will air Thursday, April 4th at 7 PM EST on ESPN and will have Brad Nessler, Dan Dakich, Jimmy Dykes and Samantha Ponder behind the mic. I don't know why you need four people covering the College 3 Point and Dunk Championships, but ESPN does as ESPN does. This is must see TV, but it's definitely a watch on mute while listening to some music with Dakich calling the action.
