Last May Cal State Fullerton head coach Bob Burton unexpectedly stepped down as the head man of Titans after a 21-10 season and a 153-122 mark overall. The Titans went with assistant Andy Newman as their interim coach and went 14-18 this year and just 6-13 in conference.
Newman was not retained at the head man and the Big West school has decided to make Arizona State assistant Dedrique Taylor as their new head coach.
Taylor has been with the Sun Devils since 2006 and was named one of Basketball Scoop's National Coaches of the Year in 2009. Prior to coming to Arizona State, the 39 year old Pomona, California native coached at Nevada, Portland State, Loyola Marymount, and UC Davis (his alma mater).
The Titans have not been to the NCAA tournament since 2008-09.
