This could be just a preview of what is to come over the next couple of months. Gonzaga's Kelly Olynyk was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year on Tuesday, just one of several Bulldogs to take home honors.
That Olynyk came from nowhere to take this award is truly saying something. Here was a kid that redshirted to improve his game... and boy did he do just that. Now he is one of the front runners for a national All-American honor and possibly the Player of the Year in all of college basketball.
Guess he made the most of that year off.
Elias Harris and Kevin Pangos were also named to the all-conference team, a conglomeration of 10 players with representation from six of the nine WCC teams.
