Florida International didn't waste any time in replacing Richard Pitino after he left to take the Minnesota job. The Panthers are set to name Norfolk State head coach Anthony Evans as the school's third head coach in as many years.
Evans has been with the Spartans the last ten years, six of which as the head coach. He is best known for leading Norfolk State to the MEAC title a year ago and knocking off the number two seeded Missouri Tigers in the second round of the 2012 NCAA tournament. Evans is 100-94 as the head coach at NSU.
Before coming to Norfolk State, the Brooklyn native was the head coach at Ulster County Community College and SUNY-Delhi.
Evans will get to experience a homecoming of sorts as FIU is set to play in Conference USA next year, along with Norfolk based Old Dominion. He is inheriting a bit of a mess in Miami with FIU being slammed with APR penalties do to issues from Isiah Thomas' tenure at the school.
