Coaching Carousel: Kansas' Joe Dooley to Take Over for Andy Enfield at Florida Gulf Coast

Andy Enfield bolted Florida Gulf Coast after their Cinderella run in the NCAA Tournament for the bright lights of USC. FGCU has now found their replacement for their former head coach.

After a tremendous NCAA tournament run Florida Gulf Coast was faced with the cruel reality that their coach would likely be leaving for a more high profile job. Anyd Enfield did indeed leave for the bright lights of Los Angeles and USC, but now the Eagles have found their replacement.

FGCU is set to name Kansas assistant Joe Dooley as their next head coach. Dooley has been under Bill Self at Kansas for the past decade. Before coming to Lawrence, Dooley was an assistant at Wyoming, New Mexico and South Carolina. The 47 year old Dooley was also the head coach at East Carolina from 1995 to 1999.

Dooley was in the running at Holy Cross in 2009 and also turned down the Hofstra job earlier this month.

It will be hard to duplicate the success of "Dunk City", but Dooley will only lose one key contributor, Sherwood Brown, to graduation and is also expected to lose junior point guard Christophe Varidel to the transfer market.

The Eagles first shot at a high profile opponent next year will likely come in the Las Vegas Classic, where they will likely play South Florida of the American and either Mississippi State, Santa Clara, or UNLV.
