Longwood will hire Cleveland State associate head coach Jayson Gee to become their new basketball coach. Mike Gillian resigned from the Lancers program last month after 10 seasons in Farmville.
The 47 year old Gee graduated from the University of Charleston in 1988. CollegeBasketballInsider.com ranked him as a Top 5 mid-major assistant in the country a couple of years ago.
He has spent time at Youngstown State,Ohio, and Saint Bonaventure as assistant. He took over his alma mater’s program in 1996 and amassed 160-55 record over seven seasons, posting six 20-win campaigns and receiving four NCAA berths.
Gee has been a finalist for some other head coaching jobs in the past, including Canisius and Ohio.
