Coaching Carousel: South Carolina's Brad Underwood Heading to Stephen F. Austin

The Lumberjacks look to a Frank Martin assistant to replace long time head coach Danny Kaspar.

USA TODAY Sports

Danny Kaspar bolted Stephen F. Austin after a tenure of thirteen years at the Southland Conference school. Now the Lumberjacks have found their replacement for Kaspar, who is now slated to coach at Texas State of the Sun Belt Conference.

South Carolina assistant Brad Underwood is expected to be named the Lumberjacks new head man this afternoon. Although Underwood has only been with the Gamecocks for a year, he has been an assistant under Frank Martin since 2007. Prior to being an assistant at Kansas State, he was the Wildcats Director of Basketball Operations.

Underwood has also spent time as an assistant at Western Illinois and as a head coach at Dodge City Community College and Daytona Beach Community College.

Stephen F. Austin was 27-5 this past season and participated in the NIT. The Lumberjacks lose key contributors Taylor Smith and Antonio Bostic, but should still have a solid roster intact for 2013-14.The Lumberjacks look to a Frank Martin assistant to replace long time head coach Danny Kaspar.
