Coaching Carousel: Stetson to Name Florida State's Corey Williams as Head Coach

After losing their coach to a conference rival, Stetson will hire a first time head coach with years of experience in the state of Florida to lead their program.

The coaching carousel may have finally stopped spinning for 2013 as Stetson has filled their vacancy, which was the only one remaining in the country. The Hatters are set to announce Florida State assistant Corey Williams as their new head coach this afternoon.

Stetson unexpectedly lost their coach, Casey Alexander, to conference rival Lipscomb last month. Alexander helped turn things around in his two years in DeLand. This past year the Hatters had a 11-7 mark in the Atlantic Sun and made it to the conference semifinals for the first time in seven years.

Williams has an interesting background. He's been with Leonard Hamilton at Florida State for six years. Before coming to Tallahassee he was an assistant at Oral Roberts for seven years. Williams is a graduate of Oklahoma State and was drafted by both the Chicago Bulls and Kansas City Chiefs coming out of Stillwater (despite the fact he did not play football in college).
