George Washington may have been the most interesting team in the Atlantic 10 last year, if not the nation. Mike Lonergan's squad squeaked into the A10 tournament with an 81-80 victory over Dayton and some help on the last day of the regular season. The young Colonials squad then very nearly knocked off UMass in the A10 tournament in Brooklyn.
Four of the five top scorers for the Colonials will return to Foggy Bottom this year and now they'll have a new running mate in Indiana transfer Maurice Creek. Creek had a promising career outlined in Bloomington but it was derailed by injuries as he only appeared in 1 game in the 2011-12 season. Over his full career he's appeared in 55 games for the Hoosiers averaging 7.2 points per game.
Creek will be eligible right away for GW and will join a talented unit that could make some noise in the A10 this upcoming season. Isaiah Armwood returns for his senior season after averaging nearly 12 points and 9 rebounds per game a year ago. Also, talented freshmen Patricio Garino, Kevin Larsen, and Joe McDonald have formed a core that will continue to grow and improve over the next couple of years. Last year the freshman trio combined for 24 points, 12 rebounds, and nearly 7 assists per game.
