VCU's Jarred Guest Out 6-8 Weeks With Ankle Injury

VCU's frontcourt may be looking a little thin after a recent injury to a developing power forward.

USA TODAY Sports

VCU recently started individual workouts on campus and today junior power forward Jarred Guest went down with an ankle injury. The immediate prognosis is that Guest dislocated his ankle and will likely be out 6-8 weeks.

Guest, a 6'8 power forward from Columbia, South Carolina, averaged over 10 minutes per game a year ago and put 2 points and nearly 3 rebounds a game. His best game came in a 17 points, 10 rebound performance against Stetson in November.

The junior is expected to play more of a roll for the Rams this season and was slated to compete for the starting power forward spot with Florida State transfer Terrance Shannon. The Rams need frontcourt is not as deep as its backcourt with only Guest, Shannon, Juvonte Reddic, and freshmen Mo Alie-Cox and Antravious Simmons. Alie-Cox has spent a year with the Rams after sitting out last year as a partial qualifier.

Guest could be in jeopardy of missing the Rams season opener as Illinois State comes to the Siegel Center on November 8.
