CIT: VMI and D.J. Covington Break Records Against IPFW

VMI is breaking records in the CIT but it was D.J. Covington who almost brought down the rim on Saturday versus IPFW.

The high scoring VMI Keydets are still marching through the season and after defeating Canisius in the first round of the CIT, the Keydets downed the IPFW Mastadons 106-95. Duggar Baucom's senior big man D.J. Covington broke a CIT record by posting 41 points and added 10 rebounds in the Keydets wins.

Freshman phenom Q.J. Peterson also added 25 points for VMI and Rodney Glasgow and Tim Marshall combined for an additional 25 points. Luis Jacobo lead the Mastadons with 30 points and 11 boards. IPFW ends the season with a 25-11 mark.

With the win VMI will now join the quarterfinal round with Ohio, Towson, Columbia, Yale, San Diego, Pacific, and the winner of Nebraska-Omaha versus Murray State on Monday night. The quarterfinal round will begin March 25 and run through March 27.
