Manhattan's George Beamon Out 3-4 Weeks

Manhattan takes a big blow as they find out they'll be without their leading scorer and one of the MAAC's best player for the next month.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Manhattan lost a big match up last night 81-76 and now it seems as if they've lost their star player, George Beamon, for the next month:

The 6'4 senior was averaging 21.6 points per game coming into last night's contest and was also adding 6.6 rebounds for the Jaspers. He was among the leaders, if not the leader, for the Conference Player of the Year race in the MAAC. Beamon sat all but five games of the 2012-13 season with an ankle injury.

Manhattan will now turn to seniors Michael Alvarado (11.8 ppg) and Rhamel Brown (9.1 ppg) to pick up the scoring slack. The Jaspers' next game is at home on Sunday when they take on a 5-9 (2-2) Marist squad at 2 PM.
