Patriot League 2014-2015 College Basketball Preseason Poll and All-League Team

The Patriot League won't be surprised by American University this season. The Eagles top the preseason poll, led by senior guard Darius Gardner.

Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

Last season, no one saw American making the run through the Patriot League that it did, on its way to second place finish in the regular season, and an NCAA Tournament berth with a convincing win over Boston University.

There will be no surprises if the Eagles make a second run to the Tournament. American was picked fist in the preseason poll with 13 first place votes. Army and Holy Cross also received top votes.

The full 2014-15 Patriot League Preseason Poll (first place votes):

1 American (13)
2 Army (5)
3 Holy Cross (2)
4 Lafayette
5 Bucknell
6 Boston University
7 Lehigh
8 Colgate
9 Loyola (MD)
10 Navy

Army's Kyle Wilson earned the preseason player of the year honors after scoring 18.4 points per game last season for the Black Knights. Last year we went out on a limb and picked Army to win the league, and it looked good for a while. This season, it might even come true.

The full Preseason All-League Team:

Darius "Pee Wee" Gardner, Sr., American
Seth Hinrichs, Sr., Lafayette
Tim Kempton, So., Lehigh
Malcolm Miller, Sr., Holy Cross
Kyle Wilson, Jr., Army
