With nine of the ten possible first place votes, Gonzaga is far and away the favorite to win the West Coast Conference yet again this season. BYU received the other first place vote, marking the second straight season the Cougars have been picked to finish second. Saint Mary's sits in third for the second year running, while San Francisco is seen as the most likely candidate to disrupt the league's big three. That's probably because last season the Dons did exactly that — finishing tied with BYU for second.

San Diego rounds out the top half of the poll but falls 12 points shy of San Francisco. The sixth place Portland Pilots are a close two points back of the Toreros.

The coaches appear to have little faith that the bottom four teams have any shot at working their way up. Pepperdine and Santa Clara both earned 29 points while LMU took 19 and Pacific just 10.

An interesting note here is the top five teams are listed in order of postseason success from 2013-2014. Gonzaga and BYU both made the NCAA Tournament. Third and fourth place Saint Mary's and San Francisco made the NIT. San Diego played into the CIT quarterfinals.

1. Gonzaga Bulldogs (9) 81
2. BYU Cougars (1) 69
3. Saint Mary's Gaels 62
4. San Francisco Dons 59
5. San Diego Toreros 47
6. Portland Pilots 45
7. Pepperdine Waves 29
8. Santa Clara Broncos 29
9. Loyola Marymount Lions 19
10 Pacific Tigers 10

The WCC's preseason all-conference team, like the end of season team, includes ten players. Of the ten players, six were named to the 2014 all-West Coast Conference team — Collinsworth, Davis, Dee, Haws, Pangos and Waldow. Eight of the league's ten teams are represented on the preseason all-conference team.
