Morning Coffee: Thanksgiving Round Up and Leftovers

A look at what's on tap for Friday and who won the big games during Thanksgiving.

Battle 4 Atlantis Chattanooga

The host Chattanooga Mocs took home the title last night with a 78-67 win over Coastal Carolina. Casey Jones had a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Ronrico White also added 21 points. The Mocs are now back to 3-3 after losing to Butler, Wisconsin ,and Tennessee Tech earlier this season. They won't rest long as they play at Kennesaw State on Saturday.

Robert Morris won the consolation game 71-54 over Louisiana-Monroe lead by Rodney Pryor with 22 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.

Orlando Classic

It wasn't a pretty day for mid-majors in Disney World yesterday as Rider, Rhode Island, and Santa Clara lost. Santa Clara lost to Tennessee 64-57 and will play Rhode Island today who lost to #11 Kansas 76-60. Rider fell to Michigan State 77-45 after only scoring 11 points in the first half against the Spartans. The Broncs will play Georgia Tech in the consolation bracket tonight.

Las Vegas Invitational

Austin Peay took down Brown 79-58 and Stephen F. Austin dismantled Prairie View A&M 73-61 to set up a match up between the Governors and Lumberjacks today. Indiana State was the lone mid-major in the "upper" division and fell to Illinois 88-62. The Sycamores will play Memphis today who lost to Baylor in the other game of the tournament.

Wooden Legacy

There were also three games involving mdi-majors in the Wooden Legacy. MMM15 team UTEP took down UTEP 62-56, Johnny Dee and San Diego fell to Xavier 82-71, and Long Beach State beat Western Michigan 73-55. The Beach will take on Washington today in the semifinals along with UTEP versus Xavier. Princeton and San Diego will match up in the consolation bracket and Western Michigan will meet San Jose State.

Spartansburg Marriott Upstate Classic

There's a nice little four team tournament going on in South Carolina this week. Host USC Upstate defeated FIU 68-53 yesterday behind 15 points and 7 boards from Fred Miller. Wright State lost to Cal State Fullerton 67-62 and the four teams will play eachother in this three game event.

NIT Season Tip-Off

Jameel Warney continued his path of terror with 18 points and 9 rebounds in a 73-54 win for Stony Brook over LIU Brooklyn. St. Joe's continued their early struggles this year with a 62-59 loss to Western Kentucky.
