Well that didn't take long... Days after being placed on our "Coaches on the Hot Seat" list, Lamar head coach Pat Knight has been fired from the Texas based school.
Must Reads
The Cardinals lost their fourth straight game Saturday to Northwestern State 87-67. The loss was the Cardinals twenty-second of the year bringing their mark to 3-22 this season.
Knight was in his third year at Lamar and has little success since his first year when the Cardinals went 23-12 and won the Southland Conference. Since then Lamar is 6-50 over the past two seasons.
Before coming to Lamar, Knight was the head coach at Texas Tech where he took over for his dad Bobby in 2009. Knight was 46-54 as the head man for the Red Raiders.
No interim head coach has been named by Lamar yet and the move comes when the Cardinals have a week before their next game against Sam Houston State this upcoming Saturday.
UPDATE 3:30 PM: Tic Price will takeover as interim head coach for Lamar. Price was serving as an Athletic Coordinator for the Cardinals athletic program. Price has been the head coach at New Orleans (94-97), Memphis (97-99), and McNeese State (01-06).
