The 2014 SWAC Awards were announced Monday and it should be no surprise who was taking home the hardware this season.
Headlining the announcement was Aaric Murray who was a force in the middle for Texas Southern all season. He averaged 21.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for the Tigers. He added a 48-point game earlier this season against Temple. For all of that, he was picked as the Player of the Year in the conference.
But he didn't stop there also taking home Defensive Player of the Year honors because of his 2.4 blocks per game.
Southern University swept the "fresh faces" awards with Calvin Godfrey earning the newcomer award and Tre'Lun Banks earning the Freshman of the Year.
