Last week UT-Martin scheduled a press conference for today. It was speculated all week long that the reason of the press conference would be the dismissal of head coach Jason James and today it seems as if that speculation was true.
James has been with the Skyhawks since 2002 when he was an assistant under Bret Campbell, who resigned from Martin after an internal audit found he violated school policies. James took over in 2009 and had a 37-117 mark as the head coach at Martin. Before coming to Martin James was an assistant at Forest Park Community College.
The Skyhawks missed the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament this year after going 3-13 in conference play. The Skyhawks went 8-23 on the year.
UT-Martin has not had a winning season since 2008-09 when the Skyhawks went 22-10. The Skyhawks have been a Division I team for 22 years and have never made the NCAA Tournament.
