Jim Molinari resigned last week at Western Illinois to take a job as an assistant under Tim Miles at Nebraska. It didn't take the Leathernecks long to find Molinari's replacement as they have tabbed Billy Wright to take over.
Wright spent the last year as an assistant at Ball State but was previously under Molinari at Western Illinois for five years. Wright was the team's associate head coach his last three years with the Leathernecks. He was part of Western Illinois' trips to the CBI Tournament, which is the Leathernecks only two postseason performances on the Division I level.
Before coming to Western Illinois, Wright was a high school coach in the Indianapolis area. Wright might be most famous for coach Marcus and Jeff Teague in high school, as well as Courtney Lee.
Western Illinois was 10-20 this past year and is just one season removed from a 22 win campaign.
