About the most high profile thing the Naval Academy has done in basketball recently is host a "Rock, Paper, Scisscors" Night to gain free admission to see the Midshipmen. Bill the Goat can rest easy this year as Navy will host the inaugural Veterans Classic on the opening night of the 2014 season, November 14.
According to a release from the school, Navy will host the event in Annapolis until 2017 and it will be televised by CBS Sports Network. This year's event will feature VCU taking on Tennessee at 6:30 PM and then Navy hosting Michigan State at 9 PM.
"This should be a terrific event over the next four years featuring some of the best college basketball teams in the country. We are excited to be able to put on a first class event with our partners from CBS, while also honoring veterans from all the services. It will be an incredible opportunity for our basketball program to host some of the premier basketball programs in the country in Alumni Hall." said Naval Academy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk in the release.
Navy is coming off a 9-21 mark last season in their third campaign under former Penn State coach Ed DeChillis
