Wichita State will be a 7-seed in the Midwest region, playing in Omaha, Neb. in the 2015 NCAA Tournament. The Shockers will face off against the Indiana Hoosiers.
Wichita State finished the season 28-4, and 17-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference. In the process they won their second straight regular season MVC title.
They were eliminated in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament with a 65-62 loss to the Illinois State Redbirds.
Wichita State finished the season with an RPI of 20, and a Strength of Schedule of 112. The Shockers were 2-2 against the RPI Top 50, with both losses (Northern Iowa, Utah) coming on the road. They finished 5-2 against teams 51-100 in the RPI, losing both games at neutral sites (Illinois State in Saint Louis, George Washington in Hawaii). They had no bad losses.
The final projections had Wichita State finding a spot in the field anywhere between a 4-seed and a 7-seed, proving that placing the Shockers was a difficult task.
