Northwestern State guard Jalan West out for the season

The mid-major ranks will be without a star the rest of the season.

Beth Hall-USA TODAY Sports

According to multiple sources, Northwestern State guard Jalan West will miss the remainder of the 2015-16 season after tearing his ACL last week in the season opener against Ole Miss.

West averaged 20 points, 7.7 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game last year for the Demons. Needless to say this is a big blow to Northwestern State and their chances in the Southland Conference.

Despite his injury West was still named the Southland Player of the Week after posting 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists against the Rebels in a 90-76 loss.

With the senior out for this season Northwestern State is left with only one true point guard on the roster in JUCO transfer Ta'jon Welcome. The Demons already have lost to non-Division I LSU Alexandria 99-97 in West's absence.

A talented Louisiana Monroe team is next on tap for the Demons this Thursday in Natchitoches, Louisiana,
