The Kentucky Wildcats continued their unanimous reign at No. 1 this week after defeating Georgia and Florida. But the group behind Big Blue Nation jumbled a bit.
On the strength of two strong wins against North Carolina and Louisville, Virginia moved back into the No. 2 spot. This pushed Gonzaga down to No. 3 in the country.
The Bulldogs beat Santa Clara and then held off a strong showing from San Francisco to pick up two more wins this week. They will face Loyola Marymount and a dangerous Pepperdine team before the next vote.
Duke and Wisconsin complete the top five.
Northern Iowa beat Indiana State and Drake to move up to No. 13 in the AP Poll. The Panthers will square off against Illinois State and Missouri State in the coming week.
Fellow Missouri Valley Conference school Wichita State also gained one spot to No. 15. The Shockers defeated Bradley in a close one, before closing out Missouri State 78-35. Wichita State goes up against Indiana State and Illinois State this week.
VCU took a loss to St. Bonaventure on a buzzer beater by Marcus Posley and it dropped the Rams to No. 20 in this week's poll. The Rams are playing shorthanded which will not help when they see La Salle and George Washington this week.
Other teams in our coverage receiving votes this week were Stephen F. Austin (22), Murray State (20), Rhode Island (12), Old Dominion (3), Harvard (2) and Valparaiso (2).
