Fordham Tabs Jeff Neubauer as New Head Coach

Fordham made a surprising hire by grabbing a coach from the south to run the show in Rose Hill.

The Fordham Rams went way off the grid in their replacement of Tom Pecora as former Eastern Kentucky head coach Jeff Neubauer. Neubauer comes to Rose Hill after 10 years with the Colonels going 188-134 over that span. He took EKU to the NCAA Tournament in 2007 and 2014 after winning the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

Prior to making his way to Richmond, Kentucky Neubauer spent most of his career under current Michigan coach John Beilein. Neubauer was Beilein's assistant at both Richmond and West Virginia. Prior to those stints he started his career as an assistant at The Citadel.

The initial thought was Fordham would target someone with connections to the New York City area like a Steve Masiello or Tim Cluess. Instead the Rams went off the grid and picked up a head coach who has spent his whole career in the South. Neubauer does have a bit of an Atlantic 10 connection though as he played for La Salle from 1989 to 1993.

Neubauer was thought to be the frontrunner for the Marshall job a year ago.
