George Mason to hire Bucknell's Dave Paulsen

After a difficult search, George Mason has landed on former Bucknell head coach Dave Paulsen to run their program.

According to the Washington Post, George Mason is set to replace Paul Hewitt with Bucknell head coach Dave Paulsen. The Patriots quickly moved on Paulsen after UC Irvine's Russell Turner turned down the job over the weekend. It was thought that Brad Edwards' would focus on current North Carolina Central head coach Levelle Moton as a backup plan but the Patriots went after Paulsen instead.

Paulsen has a 386-211 record as a head coach. He's been a head coach since 1994 with stops at St. Lawrence, LeMoyne, Williams, and finally his first Division I job at Bucknell. He lead the Bison to two NCAA appearances and a pair of NIT appearances as well.

George Mason is coming off a 9-22 season, their second straight losing season under Paul Hewitt. The Patriots have not been to the NCAA Tournament since Jim Larranaga's departure for Miami in 2011. Paulsen is expected to be officially introduced later this week.
