Game of the Day- Chattanooga 84, The Citadel 78

The Bulldogs actually lead the heavily favored Mocs by six with under four minutes to play. The Mocs ended the game on an 18-6 run to come up with the win in Charleston. Tre McLean and Greg Pryor had excellent games.  Duke Ethridge is going to be a tough match-up for a ton of SoCon teams. But The Citadel made thirteen threes and were able to take the lead for most of the second half. The Bulldogs showed that they may be a tough out in SoCon play and the Mocs showed some chinks in the armor. The Mocs will be looking to rebound on Tuesday night at home against Mercer with a better performance while the Bulldogs head to Samford in a crucial game for both teams.

Player of the Day- Spencer Collins, Wofford

Collins scored 25 points on 8 of 13 shooting for the Terriers. He knocked down 5 of 7 from three. As the player that is being largely relied on to take Karl Cochran's place on the team, Collins has not always lived up to those expectations. In the last three games, he had scored a combined 25 points. Tonight, Collins was the best player on the floor, and they needed all of it in this one. Collins will need to continue to play at that level for Wofford to thrive.

Team of the Day- ETSU Bucs

Furman was dominant against VMI as well, but that was a possible outcome of the Paladins home game against the Keydets. But few people would have thought that ETSU would walk into the Ramsey Center and come away with the easy win. The Bucs took control of the game from the beginning. ETSU made over 50% from the floor and from three point range, while Western Carolina knocked down an abysmal 3 of 28 from three point range. The Bucs played like a SoCon contender today in Cullowhee.

Disappointment of the Day- Blowout in Samford-Mercer Game

As we all settled in to watch the Samford-Mercer game on Fox Sports, everyone was hopeful that the best game on paper would live up to the billing. It did not. Mercer was up 21 by halftime. Samford looked like they were not quite ready for the pressure that came with being considered one of the SoCon favorites. The Bears were the team that looked like they were ready for to compete for the SoCon championship. Samford needs to get a little bit more experience before they are ready for primetime. They will get it as the year goes on.
