Did you really think the Wichita State Shockers were going to go quietly? Did you really think for a second that Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker would leave us without a fight? The Shockers fell in the round of 32 to 3-seed Miami by a score of

Even down 21 in the first half, it would have been foolish to chalk up VanVleet and Baker's career to be over. They were always going to mount a comeback.

Big plays from Sheldon McClellan fueled a pivotal Miami run after Wichita claimed the lead for the first time in the game. The Shockers went up 43-42 at the 10:29 mark on a Ron Baker 3-pointer. A minute later, McClellan slam on an oop from Angel Rodriguez brought the Hurricane crowd to its feet once more.

The oop infused life back into Miami. McClellan made a couple free throws and hit a 3-pointer to help extend the Miami lead to 51-45 with about 6:30 to go. Both teams struggled through an offensive lull. Two daggers from Angel Rodriguez, one off the glass and one 3-pointer, stuck a metaphorical stake through the hearts of Shocker fans everywhere. Rodriguez ended the night with 28 points.

We will have more coming on this game soon, and even more on the illustrious careers of Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker.
