The Little Rock Trojans did not take long to replace former head coach Chris Beard after his abrupt departure to UNLV this week. The Sun Belt school has scheduled a press conference for today and is expected to elevate associate head coach and Little Rock native Wes Flanigan.
Flanigan was first an assistant at Little Rock from 2004 to 2008. He has also served as an assistant at Mississippi State, UAB, and Nebraska.
Little Rock went 30-5 this past season, the first under head coach Chris Beard. The Trojans made it to the NCAA Tournament after upsetting Purdue 85-83 in double overtime of the first round. Flanigan is slated to lose a lot of talent this offseason with Josh Hagins, Roger Woods, and Jermaine Ruttley moving on. Marcus Johnson Jr., 12.5 points per game, will be the top returning scorer for Flanigan in his first season.
A press conference will be held at 11 AM on Thursday.
