Western Kentucky head coach Rick Stansbury continues to make noise on the recruiting trail. Four-star Louisiana wing Josh Anderson committed to the Hilltoppers on Tuesday, according to Scout’s Evan Daniels, giving Stansbury two major 2017 commits.

Anderson is ranked as a top-50 prospect in the country by Scout, and the 12th overall shooting guard. He held offers from Power 5 schools including LSU, North Carolina State, and TCU.
Anderson is an athletic wing who is able to get to the hoop at will for easy buckets. His main area of weakness is his outside shooting, and will likely make that one of his main areas of development during his senior season.
Normally, a top-50 recruit going to a small school like Western Kentucky would make that player the prize of the class. However, Anderson joins Scout’s sixth overall player, five-star center Mitchell Robinson, as Stansbury’s top prospects.
Since taking the job in the spring, Stansbury has proven that he can recruit near the level of in-state blue-blood programs Kentucky and Louisville. If he’s able to put together consecutive classes with highly ranked talent, the Hilltoppers may soon be one of the premiere mid-major programs in the country.
