California Baptist University will make the move to Division I and join the Western Athletic Conference, a source has told Mid-Major Madness.
The WAC is expected to make the announcement Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET in a press conference, which the league will stream live here.
Cal Baptist is expected to make an announcement of its own as well.

The WAC currently consists of eight schools for men’s basketball, and chatter has been ongoing that the league is looking to expand. Utah Valley president Matthew Holland said last week that an announcement could be expected before the end of the season.
Holland also said expansion was a priority, telling a local radio host:
“We just know it’s key for stability and stay tuned,” he said. “I think you’ll be hearing something interesting in the near term.”
The addition of Cal Baptist would put the WAC at nine schools, but they may still change with Chicago State facing an uncertain future and New Mexico State potentially looking to move.
Cal Baptist currently plays in the Division II Pac West Conference.
We will continue to update this post with more information.
