Mid-Major Madness Power Rankings: Belmont enters the fold after wins over Vanderbilt and Middle Tennessee

The college basketball season is a little over a week old and it’s time to take our first look at where teams stand so far. Everyone has played at least two games and many have either just finished or are just starting November tournaments. We’re going to know a lot more about your favorite teams shortly, but for now, this is where our voters landed.

Saint Mary’s is still ranked No. 1, as it was in the preseason, with Gonzaga not far behind. Rhode Island had been ranked third, but an early loss to Nevada and an injury to E.C. Matthews took its toll in the rankings. Elsewhere, Bucknell’s 0-4 start cost it a spot in the rankings, while Belmont went from afterthought to top-10 in the blink of an eye.
